Bumper Weekend for SPBL Bowlers

It was a bumper weekend for Flowfit Shropshire Premier Bowling League players as they won competitions up and down the country. Hanwood’s Greg Smith won the Spring Waterloo in Blackpool on Sunday, beating Yorkshire’s Jack Dyson in the final 19. Ifton’s Andy Hughes had a fine run to the Semi Finals, beating Gary Ellis and Chris Brown on the way before losing to Dyson. Sir John Bayley’s Tom Roden won his first game 19 before bowing out to Steve Freer, who has signed for Castlefields this season, while Hadley USC’s Rob Burroughs lost first game.

Yesterday two bowlers won big competitions in Shropshire and Warwick and Worcester. Bowring’s Rich Lawson retained the County Handicap after beating Castlefields’ Mike Beer 17 in the final, while at the Moor Lane Open Castlefields’ Jon Palmer won it after beating Carl Fielding 19 in the final.

The League would like to congratulate all the bowlers who did us proud!
