Three Black Tech Ltd Alan Mayhew Semi Final spots up for grabs!

There are three Black Tech Ltd Alan Mayhew Trophy Semi Final spots up for grabs tonight as six teams battle to join Chester Road in the last four. The tie of the round is between the two most successful sides in the Competition between St Georges and Castlefields, who have won it 12 times between them. It promises to be a close and cracking encounter between two teams desperate to win trophies. St Georges captain Tony Rhodes knows the “Mayhew depends on your decisions and mix of your 6s but I’m hoping that we get them right having played on their turf recently. I’m confident that my guys can get the right result.” St Georges were unlucky to lose on Castlefields, and with them being top of the table and in good form they will go in as favourites. But Castlefields can never be written off, they have a good cup pedigree and will be looking to put one over their old rivals.

Last year’s runners up Burway will be hopeful of going one better this year as they take on Meole Brace. But Burway captain Chris Dovey knows “it’s going to be a tough game as Meole are a very good team but we will go out and give it our best shot.” Meole are still looking for their first silverware, and will be hopeful their league form, which has been good this season, will be recreated in this game. The other game involves two of the most talked about teams pre-season, early season favourites Ifton and dark horses Bowring. Bowring have done exceptionally well so far and find themselves in join 3rd, while Ifton started off so well but have dipped slightly, yet are still in 2nd place. Bowring skipper Rich Lawson admits “it is another tough one, Ifotn have a very good side and we’ll have to be at our best to beat them. Hopefully we can get a decent away result and try to get a good win at home, and I’m sure that will be their thinking to. Whatever the results we know we’ll have given it our all.”

The winners of the Burway v Meole Brace game will play Chester Road while the winner of the other two Quarter Finals will face each other.

There will be some live action again hopefully on our Facebook account.
