Comments:
It was always going to be a tough season for Newport with losing so many key players over the Winter and so it proved. They never really recovered throughout the season, not able to defend their 90 game home unbeaten run which was ended by the Bayley near the end of the season. Their best result at home was 12-2 in their last game against the Bylet as they were unable to make the green a fortress like previous seasons. They struggled away but did earn one win at Bylet 8-6 near halfway through their season.
In the cups they lost at home to Meole Brace in the Black Tech Ltd Alan Mayhew Trophy 1st round in a 16 shot loss overall. They beat Bylet first round of the BowlsTrader Pool B but then lost to Bowring by just 3 chalks on Sir John Bayley.
