Sir John Bayley finally got their hands on the Premier League title as they won it by 5 points. It wasn’t necessarily a smooth ride but they did end well to seal their maiden championship. They had an alright start with three 11-3 home wins and a couple of solid away results but they got just 2 at Bowring, only beat Newport 8-6 at home then lost at home to Chester Road. But then they turned it round by seeing off Ifton 12-2 then getting 23 points off Hadley USC in their double header. They won another two away games at Bylet and Wrockwardine Wood as part of a 6 match winning streak but 3 winners at Hanwood set them back. However they responded to two wins over rivals Castlefields and St Georges and a super 8 winners at Wem USC despite losing the aggregate. After gaining revenge against the Bowring, beating them 12-2, they won at Newport to end their 90 match home winning streak and then thrashed Burway 13-1. This meant solid point hauls from their last two away games would give them the title, and they achieved this with 5 at Chester Road and 4 at Ifton.
They lost in the 1st round of the Black Tech Ltd Alan Mayhew Trophy to Chester Road by 69 overall but were unlucky to lose in the Semi Finals of the BowlsTrader Pool A to Chester Road on the best winner rule after 4 winners each with a level aggregate.
