2017 Aims:
Newport had a tough season last year after a remarkable run of five titles, losing their crown and losing their unbeaten home record. This will be another season of consolidation and trying to rebuild the team back to where it was. Mick Jones is the new captain and with his run of success at St Georges he knows how to get the best out of his players. But they have lost Dave Rhodes to injury which is a massive loss, as well as the limited availability of Alan Davidson. But Pete Farmer and Russ Pegram are playing more games and Russ’ son Justin has returned with Premier League experience under his belt from his time at Hadley USC. Peter Cookson has signed after his single game at Wrockwardine Wood last season but how many games he will play remains to be seen. But with their home green hopefully having a bit more run this season they will be looking not to lose at home again as well as improving their away form, and a good cup run is not out of the question to if they can get their best side out. They have a very tough start though with two away games and then at home to an improved St Georges side so they may well be playing catch up.
