2017 Review:
Hanmer had a great first season in the league, but after seven games in it didn’t look like it would be. After a great first game at home they lost two games there and only scored 3 in their first 3 away games. But a 12-2 home win followed by an excellent 4 at Hanwood kick started their season and earned them a win at Chester Road. Despite a home defeat to Newport, they won the rest of their home games in the second half and backed it up with a great win at Meole Brace and a draw at St Georges to get 10th place and the last prize money. They beat Sir John Bayley in the Alan Mayhew but then lost to Meole Brace. They lost 1st round in the Pool B.
2018 Aims:
Hanmer will look to at least maintain last season’s form and try and push on. They don’t seem to have made any signings so they won’t want second season syndrome and will need to be mindful that visiting teams will know their green better. But conversely they will know what to expect that going away. They will want a quicker start than last season and make sure they stay away from the bottom. They have drawn Chester Road in the Alan Mayhew Trophy and after doing the double over them last season will fancy their chances of progressing.
