2017 Review:
Hanwood followed up their successful return in 2016 with another solid campaign although did finish 13 points worse off and a place further down. Their home form again was excellent, with just the one blip in their penultimate home game against Ifton. They struggled away again though, not winning a game but did get a good 7 winners at Wrockwardine Wood and 6 at Ifton, but this was why they couldn’t match their finish of 2016. They did however win their first silverware of the season in the Alan Mayhew Trophy, beating Meole Brace by 55. They also reached the Semi Finals of the Pool A.
2018 Aims:
Hanwood have made the biggest transfers this season in getting Colin Beaman, Darren Wellings and Craig Wilson from neighbours Meole Brace. This means they are tipped to be the dark horses of this season and challenge the top three. However to do that they will need to improve their away form considerably and to win games away. At home they will want to stay unbeaten and not have a blemish on their record. They have drawn Ifton in the Alan Mayhew Trophy, which won’t be an easy tie in their defence of the trophy.
