2017 Review:
Bowring enjoyed their best ever season in finishing in 5th place and entering the Pool A for the 1st time, although were down on points from 2016. They enjoyed a great start, with a 14-0 whitewash over Hanmer, but then lost at home to Burway and got 1 at Hanwood to slip down the standings. However after they got 6 at Wrockwardine Wood, they scored 53 in 5 games, including their first win in a couple of seasons away at Bylet, to push their way up the table. But after scoring 3 at Burway and then 2 at St Georges, meant the latter club overtook them to prevent them finishing 4th. They won one game in both the Alan Mayhew and Pool A.
2018 Aims:
Bowring will want to push on again with their young team, which is set to get even younger with the additions of Jack Whitehead, Adam Patrick, Martin Gaut and Ash Gregory, meaning surely the youngest team ever in the league. They will still have some experience with Rich Lawson in the team, but how quick the new signings take to the green might dictate their home form and they will want to go unbeaten there. They will want to improve their away form, adding more away wins to their single victory last season. Consistency is something they lacked last year, and will need to have this in order to stay towards the top end of the table and keep their confidence up. They have drawn Sir John Bayley in the Alan Mayhew Trophy, in what promises to be a tough tie.
