There have been 13 Premier League teams who have won in the end of season play offs, with 7 Premier League teams having lost their place against a Champion from outside the league. Sir John Bayley won the first Play off against Coddon in 1997 comfortably by 79 shots, but the next one was much closer with Ifton defeating Ford by 5 chalks. There have been other close shaves that have been won by the Premier League side, Newport beating Pontesbury by 10, Archibald Worthington defeating Hanwood by 3 and Chester Road against Adderley by 9.
