Bayley get big win, Wrockites bounce back, Meole continue home form
Sir John Bayley got a big win in week 4 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. They won 13-3 at Highley to keep at the top end of the table to please captain Reece Farr. “We are over the moon to come away with a 13-3 victory at Highley, considering the tough conditions of the green. We started the game really well going 3-1 up with Stuart Rutter scrambling a superb 18 on one knee which pretty much set the tone for the rest of the game! Special mentions to Chris Worthington who was superb against Dave East and Jamie Taylor who was brilliant against Josh Bradburn. All the best to Highley for the rest of the season.” Reece himself was best winner 5 while Dave Scriven was best for the home team 14. Castlefields also scored 13 points at home to Bylet, led by Steve Peach Painting & Decorating Player of the Month Tom Palmer winning 2. Lisa Wilson was the winner for Bylet 20.
Wrockwardine Wood bounced back from their loss at St Georges with a 13-1 home win over Burway. Skipper Liam Stevens says “some excellent games to watch on Friday – Sam Millward v Adam Dovey was a really high standard, and Rob Roden v Ben Allen was also a top game to watch. Delighted again with the result after the previous week’s disappointment. Castlefields looking incredibly strong so let’s try to stay as close as we can.” Best winner was Clay Flattley 8 with Russell Davies best for Burway 16. Meole Brace produced another good home win this time 13-1 over Adderley. Captain Chris Jones says “after a set back at the Bayley last Friday was extremely pleased with Friday’s result at home to Adderley. After Ed Proudlove played very well to get over the line in the front against Tracy Bound (14) we were really happy the remaining games went our way with a great comeback from Doug Edwards at the end after being 13-2 against. There was great support all round from the home side and a result to match it.” Meole’s best winner was Andy Wigginton 6. Hanmer will be pleased beating Wem USC 11-3 led by Mel Jenkins 21-4. Wem’s best was Darren Fitzpatrick 16. Ifton won by the same scoreline against St Georges, with Finley Pessall setting a new record by becoming the youngest ever player in the league aged just 9, scoring more than his Dad as he lost to Nick Jones 7, who was joint best winner for the home side along with Brian Hayes. Chris Ward was best winner for the Dragons 9. Woore will be happy with 4 winners at Hanwood, captain Dan Hand leading the way 12, Hanwood’s best being Dave Burton 5.
Castlefields lead by 8 points at the top to Wrockwardine Wood, with Sir John Bayley a further point behind. Adderley are still winless and are three behind the Bylet, who are 7 adrift of Burway. There are 11 players on 4 wins led by Tom Palmer.
