2024

2024 saw our 30th Anniversary of our great league and it was definitely a year to remember!

We started with our 30th Anniversary Competition at Allscott Heath, and despite a couple of withdrawals, a great day was had with, fittingly, our greatest club in the league’s history, Castlefields, winning the competition after beating Sir John Bayley in the final, a sign of things to come! The Pool A&B in April wasn’t as successful as planned with a number of dropouts, but the Bayley completed the treble from last season and Adderley won their first trophy in the league with the Pool B. The Alan Mayhew Trophy saw Castlefields come back to win against the Bayley in May at Allscott Heath again. The league was even closer than the point that separated them last season, they both finished level on points, with Castlefields winning on Games Won, the closest ever finish to the league. The Fields then completed the treble by defeating Ifton in the Pool A, now moved back to its traditional end of season format, and Adderley added another Pool B, they haven’t yet lost in the competition.

Individually and Callum Wraight completed a perfect season, winning 24 out of 24 games and also adding the Most Consecutive Wins and the League Merit, held at Tilstock, the first venue of the League Merit 30 years ago. The Mike Hinton Pairs were won by Scott Simpson and Paul Evans at Newport.
